A “blue chip” client had a site building damaged during recent storms, which resulted in the roof needing to be replaced. The building consisted of split level upper and lower floors, to incorporate the different levels of the roof, a “doubled up” spine beam needed to be inserted in the scaffolding over the lower roof to aid the support of the scaffolding to the upper roof.
Of the two levels the lower ground floor, housed the workshop/toilet and mess facilities, along with high voltage electrical panels, while the upper floor of the building housed the admin and central control room.
It was critical none of the levels become subject to water penetration, allowing the plant to continue to operate efficiently.
TONE were challenged by its client as “Last Minute Dot Com” to design & erect an access and temporary weather protection scaffolding so repair works could commence, without interference of the running of the plant.
The damage to the roof had resulted in “cracks” appearing in the brickwork fabric of the building resulting in need for the temporary roof scaffold to be designed by calculation as a “free standing” structure, as physical “ties” could not be inserted into the damaged brickwork, therefore 1 x tonne Kentledge blocks/loading bay scaffolds and staircase access had to be incorporated to aid the strength and stability of the scaffolding.
Our operatives faced a stern challenge under extreme inclement weather conditions, working continuously within day light hours to complete the erecting of the scaffolding on programme. Allowing our client to operate continuously & efficiently.
